A straightforward guide to what we offer and what it costs
TRANSPARENTING PRICING FOR NONROFIT
The prices below are a guide, not a contract. Every nonprofit is different, and the right engagement depends on your size, your needs, and how much support makes sense right now. If you are not sure where you fit, reach out and we will figure it out together.
All engagements are month-to-month retainers. No long-term commitment required to get started.
TWO LEVELS OF SUPPORT
Advisory
Guidance and direction when you need it.
You are handling HR internally and you want an experienced HR professional in your corner. Advisory gives you access to guidance, direction, and plain-language expertise when you need it. You call when something comes up, when you are not sure how to handle a situation, or when you want a second opinion from someone who knows California employment law and has seen it all. I tell you what to do and why. You take it from there.
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE
Phone and email access for HR questions
Labor law and compliance updates
Plain-language guidance on what applies to your organization
Direction on how to handle situations as they come up
A trusted resource to call before you make a decision
Partner
More hands-on involvement in your HR.
Everything in Advisory, with a more active presence. At the Partner level I am more involved in your HR alongside you — not just advising remotely but reviewing what you are working on, joining conversations when it helps, reviewing and updating policies and working through situations with you rather than just pointing you in the right direction. Think of it as the difference between calling your HR consultant and working with your HR consultant.
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE
Everything in Advisory
Review of HR documents and materials as needed
Ongoing maintenance of employee handbook
More active involvement as situations develop
Availability to join leadership or staff meetings
Working through HR matters with you, not just directing from the outside

NEED SOMETHING MORE
Not sure which level is right for you? That is completely normal. Most executive directors I work with have never had an HR consultant before. Reach out and we will figure it out together.
A note on how this works
These retainers are designed to start a relationship, not lock you into one. Most organizations begin at the Advisory level and naturally expand the engagement as they get a feel for what they need. There is no long-term contract required to get started.
Need something outside your monthly plan?
Some nonprofits reach a point where they need more than advisory support. Maybe you are going through a period of rapid growth. Maybe you need help building out your HR infrastructure from scratch. Maybe something complex has come up that requires more hands-on involvement. Work beyond the scope of your retainer is available and always agreed upon in advance. Examples include full handbook creation, HR Audits, Recruitment, Employee Appreciation and Retention initiatives, HR Technology support (selection, implementation and ongoing maintenance).
